Euphorbia characias ssp. wulfenii, Mediterranean Spurge, is endemic across the Mediterranean from France to Turkey and its bright lime-green flowers, contrasting glaucous foliage and compact multi-stemmed upright form makes it one of the most attractive of the winter-flowering Euphorbias. Like all Euphorbias, it is very tolerant of dry conditions and poor soil and can be relied upon to look after itself without too much fuss. It works particularly well when planted in combination with broad-leaved exotics.
The flowering stems are best cut back after flowering is over to encourage new growth. Leave the younger one-year old stems as it is on the this growth that it will flower the following winter.
