Rhodocoma capensis, Cape Restio is a tall, robust and very handsome restio that grows into a large arching clump with a thicket of green and brown bamboo-like canes below and fine feathery foliage above creating a dramatic plumose effect that stays evergreen year round. The tufts of foliage grow from succesive nodes up the stems giving it a prehistoric look not entirely dissimilar to a giant feathery Equisetum.
Like most Restios it is drought-tolerant but prefers a moist acidic soil and regular waterings throughout the growing season.
