Caladium bicolor 'Red Flash' is one of the most sensational of the many Caladium bicolor cultivars that have been developed through horticultural selection. It has strong red markings at the heart of the leaves with many random pink and occasionally white markings. Spectacular is an understatement when describing them.
Caladiums are best grown in a shady or semi shaded location and can be grown either in pots or in the ground during the frost-free months of summer. They need a warm shady aspect where the air is humid and the substrate is moist. A mulch of bark will help to achieve this along with regular waterings. They are very tropical and sensitive to cold and the tubers should be lifted as early as the beginning of September before night-time temperatures start to plunge. Keep the tubers dryish during the long winter dormancy and pot up again in spring. You will probably need bottom heat to get them growing again.
Ideal as a houseplant if humidity can be maintained.
