Primula vialii, Vial's Primrose is native to the wet meadows and valleys of Yunnan and Sichuan where it was first discovered by George Forrest and then introduced to Great Britain in 1906. With its tall inflorescence of mauve-pink flowers topped with a cone of maroon buds it is a striking and eye-arresting plant that flourishes in moist or boggy ground in partial shade.
