Gardenia jasminoides 'Crown Jewels' is a cold hardy cultivar of the ever-popular Gardenia, the type species of which is widespread throughout Asia. Highly fragrant with gorgeous double flowers, it requires an acidic moist soil and should not be exposed to full sun or be allowed to dry out. Although hardy it is sensible to position it in a warm sheltered location, mulch deeply with bark and be prepared to fleece in extreme sub-zero conditions if necessary.
