Arisaema utile is one of the hardiest of the Arisaemas and is widespread across the Himalayas. It has a broad cobra-shaped hooded spathe similar to Arisaema griffithii to which it is closely related and a long whip-like appendage to the spadix. The spathe is mottled brownish maroon and green with greenish-white stripes on the spathe tube. The foliage is large, glossy and veined and has three leaflets. Often two entire leaves are present at the same time.
