Hibiscus trionum, Flower of the Hour or Venice Mallow, is a free-flowering Hibiscus which is usually grown as a tender annual in cold temperature zones. Its life can be extended by potting it up and bringing it indoors during the winter. It has deeply-lobed leaves and a distinctive ivory white flower typically with a large dark purple central eye. The flowers although only lasting for a short time are very popular with pollinating insects, particularly bumblebees. The flowers are followed by an attractive green capsule-like seedpod.
