Allium siculum, Sicilian Honey Lily, is a species that has rock and rolled between Allium and Nectaroscorum for a while now and the latest taxonomic flurry brought it back to Allium as the subgenus Nectaroscorum which it shares with Allium tripedale. It has wonderful exotic-looking waxy flowers which nod like a showy chandelier on drooping pedicels and are a creamy-green colour streaked with antique shades of brown and maroon. The twisted strappy foliage is greyish-green. It flowers May to June with the umbels persisting and turning upright to form a dry shuttlecock-shaped seedhead.
