Luzula nivea, Snowy Woodrush is a gorgeous soft-leaved grass-like member of the Reed family with long green foliage that is covered in downy white hairs along the margins. Spreading to form a low clumping groundcover, Snowy Woodrush is a highly attractive perennial for a moist aspect in shade, partial-shade or full sun. The tiny creamy-white flowers, produced on the end of tall spikes during summer are an addded bonus.
Luzula nivea is very effective in large plantings particularly in summer when the white flowerheads sway in the breeze above the downy foliage. They white colouration lend itself to many planting combinations with other perennials that flower at the same time.
Recommended. Should be used more often.
