This cultivar of Zingiber mioga differs from the type species in its delicate pale pink flowers opening at ground-level from yellow buds. It was originally collected on the south Korean island of Chejudõ by Bleddyn and Sue Wynn Jones from Crûg farm and like the type species is a robust and tall growing ginger with attractive lanceolate foliage.
Extremely cold hardy, Zingiber mioga 'Crug Zing' is a ginger that is well suited to the British winter with new growth usually commencing in April as the weather starts to warm up. It is a vigorous grower and will rapidly reach its full height forming a lush clump of jungle-like foliage. The flowers form in late summer to early autumn, usually in September.
Highly recommended. Limited quantities.
