Golden Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit from Smart Mushrooms. Grow bag contains mycelium for Pleurotus citrinopileatus, Golden Oyster mushroom, a delicate and fragile premium mushroom that is rarely encountered in the supermarkets as - being easily bruised - it has a brief shelf life and doesn't lend itself to being transported or stored for any length of time. Golden Oysters are delicious-tasting gourmet mushrooms with a sweet, nutty umami flavour that is reminiscent of cashews and with a subtle fruity aroma akin to fresh watermelon or citrus.

Each kit will grow up to 400g of fresh mushrooms in 2-3 flushes with the first flush arriving in as soon as 2 weeks. The flushes have many layers of tightly packed mushrooms growing from a single base. Each kit contains a handy glass spray bottle to keep the mycelium moist. Spray regularly twice a day and while you are waiting swot up on your Oyster mushroom recipes, one of which is included in the kit.

Full easy-to-follow instructions are included with the kit:

1. (Day One) Pull the cardboard tab on the front of the box near the base. (Use scissors if necessary)

2. (Day One) Cut an X in the growbag corner to corner (Try not to cut the mycelium substrate or remove the filter on the bag)

3. (Day One - Seven) Place box in a spot with some light (not direct sunlight) and spray with water twice a day

4. (Day Eight - Fourteen) Continue spraying as you watch the mushrooms grow and harvest when the edges start to flatten

5. Enjoy your delicious mushrooms. After harvesting leave the kit alone for two weeks then dunk in water overnight and start the cycle over again, spraying twice a day.

 Grows on recycled oak sawdust which can be recycled into your garden soil or garden compost.
