Myrtillocactus geometrizans, Blue Candle Cactus is a tall branching columnar cactus with a widespread range across Mexico. It has a distinctive appearance with 5 or 6 wide ribs, diminutive spines on widely spaced areolae and an attractive blue powdery bloom on its stems. Myrtillocactus geometrizans is a fast-growing cactus that starts life as a tall solitary stem then begins to develop a branching habit creating an attractive architectural candleabra-like shape. It is one of the easiest and most-rewarding of cacti to grow but must have a free-draining substrate and be kept warm and dry in winter.
Myrtillocactus geometrizans produces small greenish-white flowers when still quite young and these are followed by edible berries resembling Billberries from whence it gets some of its other common names.
A low-maintenance houseplant that complements modern decor and fits in well with most interiors.
