Heuchara 'Firefly' (or Heuchera 'Leuchkafer') is an easy-to-grow Heuchera cultivar in the old fashioned style from the days when Heucheras were still cultivated for their flower sprays rather than for their foliage. These historic hybrids all tend to have Heuchera sanguinea in their parentage which give rise to their brilliant carmine-red blooms. The main discernible difference between Heuchera 'Firefly' and Heuchera 'Pluie de Feu' is Heuchera 'Firefly' tends to have more of the slightly marbled pattern on its foliage, a soft silvery marbling that sometimes you have to look for to see. It's often visible in 'Pluie de Feu' also but not quite as obvious. It is also ever-so-slightly pinker than Heuchera 'Pluie de Feu'.
Heuchara 'Firefly quickly forms large ground-covering clumps and is tougher than many of the latter-day cultivars and although it will tolerate neglect and some direct sun it does best in semi-shade in a cool moist aspect.
