Cordyline stricta, Narrow-leaved Palm Lily, is a slender thin-stemmed Cordyline with soft linear foliage endemic to southeastern Australia where it occurs in moist forest and gullies on the coastal lowlands. In summer, it bears attractive long panicles of small mauve flowers with contrasting yellow anthers.
Cordyline stricta is frost tender and in the UK is best treated as a tall elegant houseplant that can be spelled outside during the summer months. It tolerates low light levels well and looks great in a large ceramic container. It is fast-growing and if it does gets too lanky it is easy to prune it back to encourage a bushier more-branching habit.
