Sedum acre, Biting Stonecrop or Goldmoss Stonecrop, is a low ground-covering Sedum, native to Europe including the UK which has tiny compact succulent foliage and masses of golden-yellow star-shaped flowers throughout the spring and summer. It is very drought-resistant and can tolerate extended periods without water. It makes an ideal groundcover in rocky, gravelly soils and will slowly clamber over rocks forming a dense mat, extending its roots down into nooks and cranies for moisture and sustenance as it spreads. Because of its extreme tolerance of drying out it is an ideal plant for green roofs or for softening the edges of dry-stone walls.
