Liriope muscari or Lilyturf, is a low-growing herbaceous perennial with long linear foliage and small delicate blue flowerspikes borne in summer. The thin strappy leaves are dark glossy green and arch gracefully and as the plant slowly clumps through the growth of its underground stolons it forms a lush ground-covering carpet giving rise to its common name.
Liriope muscari is a tough unfussy low-maintenance plant that is ideal in a wide variety of planting situations. Its tall erect flowerspikes resemble thin versions of the inflorescences of the Grape Hyacinth and put on an attractive display throughout late summer to autumn.
