Asarum europaeum, European Wild Ginger, forms a thick ground-covering mat of glossy, dark-green rounded kidney-shaped leaves that creates a striking and very exotic atmosphere in a moist shady location. The unusual brownish-red flowers are small but delightfully exotic-looking with three petals and a fuzzy covering of pale hairs.
