Description

Ornithogalum nutans, Nodding or Drooping Star of Bethleham is a perennial clumping geophyte that has an inflorescence of fragrant white star-shaped flowers with a distinctive green mid-stripe and yellow anthers. Endemic to Bulgaria and the southwestern part of Turkey, Ornithogalum nutans is fully hardy in the UK and providing it has a well-drained gritty substrate can be left in the ground year-round where it will quickly clump-up, naturalising by forming new offsetting bulbils around the central bulb.
