Arum pictum is a highly desirable medium-sized Arum from the Mediterranean with a maroon spathe and a dark purple spadix. The foliage is glossy, somewhat rounded and with a thin purple-red margin. The inflorescence usually appears before the foliage although it is not uncommon for the foliage to appear at much the same time. It is the only Arum that flowers in autumn and should not be confused with the dubiously named Arum italicum 'Pictum' which has a greenish spathe and flowers in the Spring. Arum pictum requires a moist but well-drained substrate with plenty of grit and some sharp sand to keep it free-draining. It prefers a sunny aspect and is perfectly hardy in the UK providing it has good drainage.

A choice plant. These are established growing plants in large pots, not tubers.
