Lilium 'Robert Swanson'
Lilium 'Robert Swanson' is an eye-stopping tree-lily with very striking deep yellow flowers with splashes of metallic burgundy red. Developed by lily hybridiser, Dr. Robert Griesbach of Wisconsin and introduced in 2002, Lilium 'Robert Swanson' is another OT Lily: a cross between an Oriental Lily and a Trumpet Lily. In America they are referred to as Orienpet Lilies but here in the UK they have become known as Tree-Lilies or Goliath Lilies because of their enormous size. Lilium 'Robert Swanson' is a medium-sized Tree-Lily growing only to about 1.4 metres in height. As they are vulnerable to being blown over by the wind they should be staked for support.
An extremely attractive cultivar, Lilium 'Robert Swanson' produces delicately fragranced flowers that are 18cm across in mid-Summer, usually July. It is hardy in the UK.
Highly recommended.
