Lamprocapnos spectabilis, Bleeding Hearts, is so well known that it hardly needs a description. Another fabulous plant that was introduced to the UK by Robert Fortune, it has been charming generations of gardeners ever since with its delicate pendulous pink heart-shaped flowers. It will take some sun but prefers a shady aspect that is sheltered from cold winds. It thrives is a rich well-drained soil.
