Monstera deliciosa
Monstera deliciosa, Swiss Cheese Plant is a well-known houseplant that is endemic to the humid rainforest of southern Mexico and central America. In cultivation it is a fast-growing plant with a wide tolerance of neglect but thrives under conditions that replicate those of its native range: warmth, humidity and shade. A rewarding indoor plant, the window-like fenestrations that develop on mature foliage and its dramatic aerial roots have made it one of the most popular houseplants in the world.
In warm temperate and sub-tropical climates is can be grown outdoors. In Australia and New Zealand, Monstera deliciosa is known as Fruit Salad Plant because its ripe fruit have an exotic flavour reminiscent of pineapples and bananas.
