Ophiopogon bodinieri
Ophiopogon bodinieri, Chinese Lilyurf, is a Green Mondo Grass from China and Taiwan where it is found in moist, partially-shaded woodlands, forest floors and ravine slopes growing at elevations from 500-3500 metres above sea level. It has fine and particularly long, linear grass-like foliage and in time forms dense textured mats. The filamentous thread-like leaves are the longest and thinest of any Mondo Grass that I have seen. Like any Ophiopogon it is slow-growing and takes time to reach a carpet-forming size but the wait is well worth the effort and a large clump is an impressive sight.
The small white or pale purplish flowers have a tinge of red at the base of the tepals and are followed by a metallic-blue fruit.
An unusual Ophiopogon, not often encountered and completely hardy.
