Filipendula ulmaria
Filipendula ulmaria, Meadowsweet, is a well-known and much-loved aromatic herbaceous perennial with large attractive pinnate leaves and a tall inflorescence of snowy-white flowers. It has well-known medicinal properties and was the plant from which acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) was first derived. It is frequented by bees and butterflies throughout the summer months and for this reason alone deserves a place in any garden. For the exotic gardener its frond-like foliage works well with other large perennials like Rheum, Rodgersia, Ligularia, and Darmera and the tall panicles of flowers will brighten up dark corners.
A charming perennial with many wonderful qualities.
Low maintenance and no-fuss. Absolute bargain!
