Delivery
PLEASE NOTE: We are exceptionally busy at the moment - Delivery times are currently at 6-10 days.
Here at Tropical Britain, your satisfaction as a customer is important to us. Our top priority is to deliver your precious plants to you as quickly as we possibly can and in perfect condition. We have developed systems of packaging and wrapping your plants that keep them safe and well-protected during delivery. The type of packaging your plant receives depends to a certain extent upon its species; the way we package our bananas, for instance, is different to the way we pack our succulents and cacti. In all instances, however, a great deal of care and attention goes into every single order, ensuring that each individual plant in your order is clearly labelled and has the best possible micro-environment during its journey to you. The plants are carefully selected and checked before despatch and we strive to give you the best speciman available on that day. Each plant is packed directly from the pot or nursery bed and the individual roots or rootballs are kept moist and wrapped and sealed in plastic. Cacti and succulents are always sent dry-rooted. We ensure that your order is well-protected and padded so that it arrives in the best possible condition and - because we dislike waste just as much as you do - we recycle and re-use many different types of packaging materials so that there is as little environmental disruption as possible.
We deliver to the UK only. We no longer deliver to the EU or NI.
We use a next day courier service. To avoid the possibility of plants sitting in a warehouse over a weekend, we do not despatch on a Friday. For some very small orders we may use Royal Mail First Class.
Our flat rate delivery charge for all orders is £9.99. For all UK orders over £99, delivery is free.
The speed of delivery is somewhat dependent on the time of the year and how busy we are at that time. Occasionally weather or some other unforseen issue may hold up an order but ideally we are striving to achieve as quick a turn around as possible. From the moment your order has been received plants are being selected ready for despatch. Generally, we can say we aim to make deliveries within 7 days from receipt of the order, with older orders being dealt with first. In reality it is usually much quicker than that. Most of customers are surprised how quickly we fulfill our orders with their complex list of plants arriving in as little as 2 days after ordering. In some very rare circumstances orders may take up to 21 days and we will contact you if such a delay is likely. Tropical Britain will notify you by way of email when your goods are to be dispatched to you. Please look in your Spam Folder if you haven't received an order or shiment email from us and don't forget to whitelist us so you receive future transactional emails. In order to facilitate the speedy functioning of nursery and despatch operations please do not contact us regarding the expected delivery time of your order unless it is more than 14 days since your order was placed.
All deliveries are made from our nursery in New Haw, Surrey. We are a working nursery and our service is online only. We regret we cannot cater for retail visitors and our nursery is not open to members of the general public. For local customers wishing to place orders of our larger specimen range please contact us.
For Trade customers our service is Collection only. A full list of our Botanical Garden grade specimen-size plants for pick up from the nursery is here.
