Crocosmia 'Lucifer' is a hybrid of Crocosmia masoniorum and Crocosmia paniculata and its bright vermillion-red flowers, bold lanceolate foliage and cold-hardy resilience has made it the most popular Crocosmia ever. Crocosmia 'Lucifer' has tall arching spikes of relatively small but very fiery blooms and it is usually the earliest Crocosmia to flower with a long season that spans both July and August and can continue on in to September.
Crocosmia 'Lucifer' is extremely easy to grow and does best in a sunny sheltered aspect although coping well with some shade. It enjoys a humus-rich well-drained soil and should be mulched in autumn for protection during the winter.
Perfect for planting plans that are seeking to emphasise hot tropical colours, Crocosmia 'Lucifer' combines paticularly well with Chasmanthe and Watsonia as well as taller plants like Cannas and Gingers.
