Canna 'Cherry Red'
Canna 'Cherry Red' is a compact cultivar with intensely red flowers. The staminodes are not as narrow as some Crozy Group cultivars and are bright red and the labellum is smaller, more narrow and generally recurved and is the same intense cherry red. Both the staminodes and the labellum can have a fine yellow colouration near the throat. The foliage is green. A small to medium-sized cultivar it is typical of the shorter-height hybrids introduced by the German firm, Wilhem Pfitzer. Despite its rather pedestrian name Canna 'Cherry Red' is a desirable cultivar with a good pedigree and its strong red colour gives it a powerful impact. It is ideal for the grower requiring a smaller height plant with a strikingly-coloured flower.
