Calla palustris, Bog Arum, is a hardy aquatic Aroid from a wide geographical area across the Northern Hemisphere where it grows in moist swampy locations. It has lush heart-shaped foliage and in summer produces inflorescences with a small sail-like white spathe and a short stout spadix.
Calla palustris thrives in water, either fully submerged in shallow water or growing along the moist water-margins where from time to time it will be inundated from excess rain. It should never be allowed to dry out. It has creeping rhizomes that quickly establish an exotic clump.
