Canna 'Strasbourg'

Canna 'Strasbourg' is a tall and strong growing cultivar with large bright scarlet red flowers and broad paddle-shaped foliage that is an attractive glaucous-green. The flower spike is large and tightly compacted giving it an impressive quality and enhancing its exoticness, particularly as the flowers first begin to open. The staminoides are well-spaced, medium-sized and a striking blood red in colour. Often listed as a dwarf or compact variety this is misleading and something of a misnomer: we find it easily reaches 1.5m - 1.8m in height (5-6 feet). Canna 'Strasbourg' is a desirable and vigourous variety that responds well to a rich soil, regular feeding and as much water during the growing season as you can give it. The blue tinge to the lush foliage is a bonus.
