Arum creticum is a large clump-forming Arum from Crete, Karpathos and SW Turkey. A highly desirable Aroid, Arum creticum has attractive glossy foliage and an inflorescence with a white to pale-yellow spathe and a bright yellow spadix. It is one the very few Arums that have a pleasant odour and it is remarkably strong with a very sweet rather lemony fragrance.
Dormant during the summer, Arum creticum begins its growth-cycle again in autumn with the inflorescence usually appearing in March or April although it can appear earlier. It is a very easy Arum to cultivate and is perfectly hardy in most UK situations. It requires good drainage and a sunny aspect.
A choice and rewarding Arum.
