Arum hygrophilum is an attractive and delicate Arum from the Mediterranean where it is found in the Levant and with disjunct populations in Morocco. It is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List. Although not the largest or most robust Arum it produces many new tubers and over time creates a large clump. The inflorescence has a small maroon spadix and a spathe that is creamy-green with a distinctive maroon margin. Despite its warm origins, it is hardy in the UK where it will do best in a sheltered sunny or partially-shaded aspect with a fertile well-drained gritty substrate. Foliage growth appears in autumn and the inflorescence appears in Spring - usually in April - before a dormancy period throughout the summer. As its name suggests, Arum hygrophilum appreciates moist conditions during the growing season but this is generally supplied by the weather.

These are growing plants in 1 Litre pots. A choice Aroid. Limited quantities.
